About the DOHaD Society
The International Society for the Developmental Origins of Health and Disease was formed in 2003 to investigate the relationship between early human development and disease in later life. It also seeks to develop public health strategies and promote research and funding to address these challenges.
Since its formation, the DOHaD Society has grown to include over 500 members from 35 countries, bringing scientists and clinicians from many disciplines together with public health professionals skilled in population-based sciences and interventions. The DOHaD Society mission is endorsed by many international organizations, including the United Nations, WHO, UNICEF, the World Bank (International), the US Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), and the Wellcome Trust. The March of Dimes is a major sponsor of the 7th World Congress on DOHaD. All of these organizations promote investment in maternal and child health as a means of improving lifelong health and preventing chronic disease in adolescents and adults.
